Climate Change For Kids

Climate Change For Kids

Last year, we worked with The Garden Classroom to set up the Council for Sustainability, and our school councillors joined together for four sessions in community gardens and nature reserves in the heart of Islington. The children worked together to create a mission statement; identify and understand key problems and solutions as well as taking part in activities exploring energy and innovation, soils and compost, plants and planting, food miles and sustainable food production. Following on from this work with the school councils, TGC is delivering our  ‘Sustainability Now!’ whole school takeovers to reach every child across the network.

This year, we’ve launched the year-round ‘Climate Change for Kids’ programme. The sessions are planned to ensure they are key stage appropriate, highly creative and engaging and, importantly, the programme supports climate anxiety alongside curriculum learning.
