Early Reading

Our Early Reading project, delivered by Herts for Learning, offers leaders and practitioners the tools they need to support and monitor the gift of developing reading with children.

It acknowledges and supports the five pillars of reading; the importance of phonics and its place in cracking the reading code, of phonemic awareness and how sounds work together, and the richness of a broad and aspirational vocabulary. 

We understand that each child is unique and not all strategies work for all children so this training investigates what the potential barriers to reading might be for some children. We aim to create a rich and diverse reading culture for children, which includes the role of the whole staff and family in the process.
