Writing Through Poetry
‘Poetry is a packsack of invisible keepsakes.’ Carl Sandburg
A project aimed at Year 6 pupils, with teacher resrouces provided. Over the course of 4 weeks, our pupils study a poem a week, all using London as their theme. Throughout the study, the chlidren can chat and share on a collaborative blog – before working on their own poem which they submit to a network-wide competition to discover our own Poet Laureate and individual school’s poets of the year.
This project really helps to develop pupils’ (and schools’) enthusiasm and interest in poetry and allows pupils and teachers to use and evaluate blogging as a tool for extension work and collaborative learning.
